Reverend Donald Kerwin Sadler, the second Pastor of the New Morning Star Baptist Church is a native of the District of Columbia where he attended public schools. Pastor Sadler has matriculated at Brookewein Business Institute as well as Montgomery College, majoring in Business Administration. He has also received his Theological education at the Washington Baptist Seminary and has completed graduate studies at Howard University's School of Divinity and is a graduate of the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zimbabwe.

Pastor Sadler is married to the former Gwendolyn Battle, who is a native of Washington, DC. She attended Alderson-Broaddus College where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She is a Nurse Case Manager and a Child Birth Educator. Gwen is an asset to the ministry, a loving and devoted wife and mother to their sons, Jarmil Dewan and Demetrius Kerwin.

Pastor Sadler is diligently working towards the betterment of mankind with his congregation as teacher, preacher, counselor, and administrator. He is also active in the religious and civic communities in the Metropolitan area. He was employed by Giant Food, Inc. for 18 years and retired in 2005.

Pastor Sadler is a member of the National Baptist convention, USA Inc. and is a Sectional Vice President (NE) of the Baptist Convention of DC and Vicinity, the President of the Missionary Baptist Ministers' Conference of Washington, DC and Vicinity, First Vice President of the Baptist Educational Congress of DC and Vicinity, and the past President of the Washington Baptist Seminary Alumni Association. He also serves as a Board Member of the Council Churches of Greater Washington. As well as an officer of the Trustee Board of the Washington Baptist Seminary, where he serves as Assistant Secretary  of the board

Pastor Sadler has served as a Chaplain in the Pastoral Care Department of Sibley Memorial Hospital. He is an alumnus of the Pastoral Excellence Program of Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention, a Board Member of the Stoddard Baptist Home, and is a State Director of Christian Education, Sunday School Publishing Board, National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.

The members of the New Morning Star Baptist Church family sincerely appreciate our pastor. He is a dynamic speaker, preacher, teacher, and friend. As the pastor for more than a decade, he keeps the church family spiritually fed and nurtured as he continues to strengthen our faith in God. His ability to lead and guide his members in the Holy Spirit is a treasure given only by God. The New Morning Star Baptist Church family will always love, respect and follow his leadership and is proud to have him as OUR PASTOR.
